Admissions requirements

Admission to graduate programs at McGill is holistic, meaning that many factors are taken into consideration in the admission decision, including academic credentials and grades. The following outlines the minimum requirements for admission to graduate studies at McGill. These minimum requirements apply to both Canadian and international candidates. Please review the list carefully, as you must meet all of the minimum requirements in order to be considered for acceptance. Keep in mind that meeting the minimum admissions requirements does not guarantee your admission.

Our Tradition of Welcoming International Students

Many of McGill’s graduate students have completed prior studies outside of Canada. Accordingly, our admission specialists are well versed in interpreting international credentials and grades.  All graduate program applicants, whatever their background, must have completed at least one undergraduate degree from a recognized university, with a grade point average of at least 3.0/4.0 or the equivalent.
