Preparing your application
As you know, each external competition varies as to where, when and how you submit your application, and students and postdoctorals should refer to individual opportunity pages for specific instructions. Some requirements, however, are shared by a large number of competitions, including the need to acquire official signatures and documents (such as transcripts) in support of applications. In this section we provide instructions on how to obtain these important items.
Our tips aren't confined to the website alone. At GPS, we know that in-person assistance can often make all the difference, and we hold a series of workshops at the beginning of each school year—for both current Graduate students and future Graduate students—to help better their chances of securing external funds. Offerings range from step-by-step instructions for major competitions to individual project summary reviews. Applicants should also be sure to check out our tips for writing a great research proposal.
