The Osler Medical Aid Foundation (OMAF) Scholarships
The Osler Medical Aid Foundation awards are intended to support undergraduate medical students conducting service-learning or clinical electives in underserved communities both in Canada and overseas for a minimum duration of 4 weeks. Two scholarships of a variable amount will be available in each application round, to support travel and accommodation expenses. In keeping with OMAF’s heritage as a student-driven scholarship initiative, a medical student will be included on the selection committee for these awards.
The McGill International Health Initiative (MIHI), formerly the Osler Medical Aid Foundation, was established in the early 1980s by students from a range of health care disciplines at McGill University. Today, MIHI actively promotes effective public health measures and equal access to health care through educational initiatives and providing students with a forum for channeling their education into meaningful advocacy. The OMAF scholarship helps support students to pursue their global health interests with the understanding that students who gain an awareness and understanding of global health issues are more likely to approach issues of health inequities and work in underserved communities both in Canada and abroad.

Awarded by the Faculty Medicine upon the recommendation of the Director of the Global Health Program, the number and amount of awards will vary yearly.
