OMERACT Flare Working Group

Project Information

The Outcome Measures in Rheumatology (OMERACT) group is an international network of rheumatology scientists, clinicians, and patients who work together with the common goal of improving outcome measurement across rheumatologic diseases. The OMERACT RA Flare Group was established in 2006 to ultimately to define and rigorously develop a consensus-based new measure for use around the world to assess flare in RA—an important gap that impedes current research. The OMERACT RA Flare Group includes researchers, clinicians, statisticians and patients from Europe, Canada, USA, and Australia. Currently, an international Project Steering Committee of 10 experts in RA lead the working group. I am a member of the Steering Committee. An initial goal was to achieve consensus among an international group RA patients and HCPs of key features of RA flares. Current goals are to validate the Flare Questionnaire we developed.
