Dr. Brassard’s area of expertises includes infectious diseases control mainly tuberculosis and Aboriginal health. The main tools used to perform this research are surveillance data, epidemiologic investigations and molecular epidemiology.
His main research aims to define the natural history of the human papillomavirus infection in Inuit women from Nunavik, Quebec. He is also looking into the transmission of tuberculosis in Quebec using molecular markers, human genealogy and historical geography techniques.
He has also developed other research interests such as antibiotic use in the primary and secondary prevention of coronary heart disease and stroke.
