“Preventing Youth Violence in El Salvador: The Role of New Graduate Teachers of Innovative Physical Educatio

Description: 

After several years of civil war, youth violence, in many cases related to gang activity, has become a growing problem in El Salvador. Universidad Pedagogica in San Salvador, in partnership with the Ministry of Education of El Salvador, developed a new university physical education program aimed at providing graduates with the necessary tools to promote conflict resolution and life skills among secondary school students. Universidad Pedagogica is working now with the Center for Healthy Development Through Sport and Physical Activity at Brock University to evaluate the impact of the first cohort of graduates from the program.
