Amanda Ricci is a doctoral student at McGill University. Her research interests include migration, citizenship, and women’s activism in Quebec/Canada. She completed her master’s thesis, entitled “From Acculturation to Integration. The Political Participation of Montréal’s Italian-Canadian Community in an Urban Context (1945-1990)” at the Université de Montréal in 2009. Concentrating on the local level, this work examines the Italian-Canadian contribution to municipal politics, the Quebec labour movement, mobilization with regards to the language debate, and the second-wave feminist movement. Her current project focuses on the second-wave feminist movement in Montreal, with a particular emphasis on questions surrounding race and ethnicity.
