After completing a BA (Hons) in German and English, and a teaching certification at the University of Bristol, I obtained my Dr. Phil. at the Universität Zürich in 1963. My professional career in Canada and the U.S. includes positions at the University of New Brunswick, the University of Saskatchewan at Regina, the Univeristy of Manitoba, McGill University and a visiting position as Chair of Excellence in the Humanities at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
