Since October 2004, the Ministère du développement durable, de l'environnement et des parcs du Québec support McGill's mission to protect for future generation its property of mont Saint-Hilaire by recognizing the Gault Nature Reserve as an official private reserve, following the disposition of the Natural heritage conservation act.
