South West Ontario Trip

October 7 to 9

As part of the Entrepreneurship 2 class given by Prof. Pascal Thériault, 3rd year FMT students visit various agricultural businesses in the South West Ontario area.

Students provide a final report on each enterprise visited. They are to analyze various aspects, such as: The evolution of the business and physical installations, human resources and management, marketing and financial management, SWOT analysis, environment, and provide their personal insight.

This year students visited Casco Inc., Huff Estates Winery, Summitholm Farm, Beverley Greenhouses Limited, Alliston Feedlot, Laamert Koonstra Farm/Organic Meadows Ontario, and Chudleigh's Orchard and Bakery.

Beef and Sheep Class - Domaine du Parc Field trip

October 20

2nd year FMT students in the Beef and Sheep Class spent the afternoon at Domaine du Parc- a beef feedlot operation in Ste-Élisabeth managed by Mr. Denis Ouellet and Mrs. Josée Rainville, parents of current FMT students.

 Dairy heifer Management Class- New York State field trip

October 24

FMT students in Dairy Heifer Management class, with Prof. Christian Molgat, went to visit a couple of dairy operations in the state of New York.

The first visit was B and R dairy in West Chazy NY. Managed by Steve Bechard, they custom raise 1200 heifers.

The second visit was to Adirondack Farms in Peru, NY. Co-operated by John Rulfs, they milk 1500 cows and grow all of their crops on 2,000 acres of land.

Classified as
