Your McGill Identification Card is an absolute necessity. You will need it to write exams, take out library books, use student services on campus, and even get student discounts at local retailers. You can get an ID on both the Downtown and Macdonald campuses, and must wait 24 hours after registering for at least one course to be eligible. Replacements for lost or stolen ID cards are available as well.
If you are a registered student on the downtown campus, you can get your ID card at the Service Point from 9:00 to 5:00. It will also be open on the weekend of August 24th and 25th.
To avoid long line-ups during the first week of school, you may want to consider getting your ID card early. It's available as soon as you are registered in at least one course.
Quebec CEGEP graduates can get their ID cards starting June 10th, while other Canadian students can get it as early as June 18th. International students will be able to get theirs as soon as they register for their courses. See this website for more details.
If you are a registered student on the Macdonald Campus, please note the following:
- Time blocks have been set aside during Orientation Week for ID card production. Please visit this website for more details including schedules.
- Once classes have started, you can visit the Student Affairs Office, Room 106, Laird Hall to get your card.
If you lose your ID card, you can get a new one at:
