Your home away from home

Whether you choose accommodations on or off campus, with or without roommates, make sure you feel at ease there. You may think of your apartment as temporary, but it will be your home away from home, so choose the place that best meets both your financial needs and your personal preferences, and add a personal touch by making it feel as cozy as possible.

Residence accommodation is guaranteed for first-year students admitted by June 17th and is granted on a first-come, first-served basis after that date. If you requested to live in residence on your initial application, the status of your residence offer will be indicated on your acceptance letter from McGill Admissions and on Minerva. If you have been offered a space in residence, you must confirm your room reservation on Minerva and pay your deposit before the June 3rd deadline to secure your spot.

If you didn’t make an initial request but have since changed your mind, please contact:

Off-Campus Housing

If you will not be living in residence, it is best to start looking early for an apartment or room to rent. Montreal offers many interesting and diverse neighbourhoods to live in and most are easily accessible by public transportation.

The Off-Campus Housing Office can help with your search, and offers important information about your rights as a tenant and useful tips for finding great apartments. They also offer listings and a page of links. Students often post housing ads in McGill's classifieds, and the First-Year Office offers advice for apartment-hunters as well.
