Supervisors & Academic Advising
If you’re a grad student, you should follow your department’s instructions to find out which courses you should be taking. Depending on your department, you may be invited to an orientation or advising session, be provided with a list of courses, or you might need to meet with an advisor. Your Graduate Program Director and Graduate Program Coordinator are essential partners, who are available to answer your questions about your program and Graduate Studies at McGill.
Your graduate supervisor is not only there to guide your research. He or she also acts as your advisor on a variety of issues, from your thesis topic to how to resolve methodological problems. For tips on building a strong student-supervisor relationship, visit the Supervision webpage.
