Where to start?

  1. Undergrads, review the I've Been Accepted site.
If you're an undergraduate student, this is the place to learn about registering for courses, submitting documents, etc.

  2. Grad students, check out the Grad Hub
As a graduate student, the GPS site is your source for registration information, graduate-specific resources, policies, etc.

  3. Join your Entering Class Facebook and Discord groups!
There are separate undergraduateMacdonald Campus undergraduate and graduate groups on Facebook, and both undergraduate and graduate Discord groups.

  4. Sign up for a Student Matching Program.
Canadian students can sign up for the New Student Mentorship Program, and international students have access to the Buddy Program

  5. Set up your tech tools and preferred name.
Learn about the different tech tools and resources that will be a part of your McGill experience, and how to get started with them.

  6. Learn all about McGill on MyCourses, McGill's online course platform.
Undergraduate students can complete the McGill Essentials course.

  7. Plan ahead for healthcare and prescriptions.
It may take some time to access a doctor when you first arrive in Montreal, so it's important to prepare ahead of time, especially if you're already taking medication. Visit our Plan Your Healthcare page for help.

  8. Want to take a French or English as a Second Language course?
Take your English placement test (for students registering for WCOM courses only) or French placement test (for students registering for FRSL courses only). Placement tests for other languages are not required for course registration.

  9. Découvrir les ressources disponibles aux étudiants francophones.
Our Francophone student offerings help French-speaking students find the community and resources you need.
