Chisasibi Training


LOCATION

Chisasibi is a Cree village on the eastern shore of the James Bay.  Trainees are flown to Chisasibi. The teaching site is part of the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay.


CAPACITY

• 2 trainees per period


LENGTH OF ROTATION

• 1 or 2 months


LANGUAGE

• Spoken: English, French is useful
• Charting: French and English
• Population spoken language: Cree and English


CLINICAL EXPOSURE AND LEARNING EXPERIENCES

Rotation primarily done in Hospital

Trainees can be exposed to:
• CLSC
• ER
• Home care/visits
• Intensive Care Unit
• Long Term Care Facility
• Minor Procedures
• Pre Natal and Post Natal Care
• On-Call
• Private Office
• Teaching Activities
• Walk-in Clinic
• Ward and Patient Services
• Other clinical exposures: Anesthesia, Minor Surgery and Medivac

The trainees assigned supervisor may change during the course of their rotation.
