History and Mission

The following sections outline the mission, history, and implementation of the eCalendar project, which has been developed and enhanced by McGill's Enrolment Services into what is available today. Adapted from the print Course & Program Calendar publications, the eCalendar includes all official course and program information, as well as university regulations, in a dynamic, clear, and searchable format.

Goals:

  • Provide an efficient and collaborative workflow process for the production of all University calendars.
  • Store all calendar information in a single content repository.
  • Automatically pull course, program, and teaching staff information from the Banner ERP into the calendar.
  • Allow for multi-format publishing (e.g. PDF, HTML, mobile) from the calendar repository.
  • Allow WPS editors to publish calendar content pulled directly from the calendar repository and kept up-to-date automatically.
  • Provide a powerful and intuitive search mechanism to discover calendar information.
  • Maintain publicly archived versions of all electronically published calendars.
