MCGILL RESIDENTS/FELLOWS
PLEASE FOLLOW THESE 4 STEPS:
1. Discuss your particular needs with your Training Programme Director and decide on your course selection. Please note that 6 credits per 4 week period is considered a fair load, 10 credits a heavy load.
2. Starting February 15, register on line for your courses at www.mcgill.ca/minerva/ within the deadline dates posted on Minerva.
3. Consult MINERVA a few weeks before the starting date of your course(s). For information on course outlines, visit www.mcgill.ca/epi-biostat-occh/summer/coursestimetables/.
4. Course Selection (to add or drop a course or to cancel your registration) require written permission from your Training Programme Director, as well as submitting your changes on MINERVA. This will avoid the mention of ‘Fail ’on your university transcript.
Residents and Fellows can register for a maximum of 12 credits in total and are considered Special Students at the graduate level during this period. Students who have reached the limit of 12 credits are no longer eligible for Special Student status at the graduate level.
As a Resident/Fellow, you will receive academic credit for any courses taken during the summer. You are expected to attend all classes, complete all assignments, and take exams. The marks you receive will be entered on your permanent McGill Transcript Records. If you do not complete a course, you will get an automatic Incomplete ‘K ’or Fail ‘F ’. Successfully completed credits may be transferred to a degree program at McGill or another university.

SPECIAL STUDENT STATUS
Individuals not currently registered in a degree program who are interested in taking summer course(s) for credit may apply for Special Student Status. Special Student status permits non-degree candidates to take up to 6 credits per session with a maximum of 12 credits in total. Students who have reached the limit of 12 credits are no longer eligible for special student status. Should they decide to pursue a degree in epidemiology or biostatistics, it is possible to transfer these credits to the degree program. Please be advised, however, that recommendation for special student status does not necessarily confer an advantage for later application to a degree program. On-line application deadline for May/June courses is February 28.
