Advising and Advisers

Types of Advising & Advisers

Students have access to academic advisers, peer tutors, and career advisers. You should make sure to seek out the appropriate help. Academic advisers can help you select courses, resolve schedule conflicts, transfer credits, and advise you on University policies. Peer Tutors can help you when you are struggling with coursework. Career Advisers in the McGill Engineering Career Centre provide career education, guidance, and individual advising to students in their search for permanent, part-time, or summer jobs and internships. They also serve as liaisons between students and the engineering industry.

Please note that all communications with our tutors and advisers are confidential. Also, some academic matters require approval of more than one adviser, e.g., the faculty adviser and the department/school academic adviser.
