Workshop Competence Assessment and Qualifications Procedure
Under its Health and Safety Policy and the general provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Quebec, McGill University is committed to taking every reasonable precaution to protect the health and safety of its employees and students. This procedure does not preclude any current University or Provincial policies in effect. The current McGill Workshop Safety policy can be found on the McGill Environmental Health and Safety website at Workshop Safety and specific workshop rules can be found at Workshop Safety Rules. All workshop users should be familiar with the McGill Health and Safety guidelines which can be found at the McGill Environmental Health and Safety Services Home Page.
The Faculty Workshop Services supports the pedagogical mission of the Faculty of Engineering for undergraduate curriculum courses. In addition, support is also given for the research and experimental needs of the Faculty, within the scope of the equipment and knowledge of the staff. This procedure formalizes the process by which workshop users may be qualified on workshop equipment for use outside formal classroom hours.
