Types of Advising & Advisors in the Faculty of Engineering

McGill Faculty of Engineering students have access to academic advisors, peer tutors, and career advisors.

  • Academic advisors can help you select courses, resolve schedule conflicts, transfer credits, and advise you on University policies.
For more information about advising at McGill, please see Academic Advising.

  • Career Advisors in the McGill Engineering Career Centre provide career education, guidance, and individual advising to students in their search for permanent, part-time, or summer jobs and internships. They also serve as liaisons between students and the engineering industry.

  • Peer Tutors can help you when you are struggling with coursework.

EPTS is recruiting tutors for the upcoming Fall 2023 semester! If you want to be part of our exceptional team, please visit the Engineering Peer Tutoring Service page for more information.

All communications with our tutors and advisors are confidential. Also, some academic matters require approval of more than one advisor, e.g., the faculty advisor and the department/school academic advisor.
