Emergency Measures and Fire Prevention

Welcome to Emergency Measures & Fire Prevention

As part of University Safety, Emergency Measures & Fire Prevention forms a partnership with Security ServicesEnvironmental Health & Safety, and Hazardous Waste Management to promote a safe and secure setting for those who together constitute the McGill community. Our office consists of a team of dedicated professionals committed to maintaining the highest levels of safety.

Emergency Measures. Develops emergency response plans, procedures, and policies focused on safeguarding the individuals who comprise of the McGill Community. We aim to provide information, education and training to lay the foundation for a coordinated and effective response to emergency events on campus.

Fire Prevention. Provides the services to ensure fire safety throughout McGill buildings, during university activities and operations, in cooperation with the community. We believe in maintaining a strong partnership with students and staff, so please do not hesitate to fireprevention [at] mcgill [dot] ca (contact us )when you need our assistance or wish to discuss safety matters.

Operations. Maintains the diverse and substantial inventory of fire protection equipment on both campuses, in McGill’s important portfolio of buildings. Equipment maintenance and readiness is a vital part of safeguarding the community.
