Rhiannon Gainor, McGill School of Information Studies (SIS) doctoral student, has been named a 2013-14 ASIS&T New Leader. This year was exceptionally competitive, with 77 applications from ASIS&T members from 10 countries. This is the second time in two years a SIS student has won this award. Congratulations Rhiannon!

The McGill School of Information Studies (SIS) is strongly represented at the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) 76th Annual Meeting, Nov. 1-5 in Montreal.
The conference is co-chaired by Dr. France Bouthillier, SIS Director and faculty member. Faculty, affiliated researchers, and PhD students are participating in panels and workshops and presenting papers and posters.

Dr. Jeffrey Derevensky, Professor, in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology was recently honored with the 2013 Scientific Achievement Award from the U.S. National Centre for Responsible Gambling. This award was in recognition of Dr. Derevensky's contributions to the field of research on youth and adolescent gambling.
Dr. Nathan Hall, Assistant Professor, in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology was recently awarded two grants from Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).

The Faculty of Education will soon be re-establishing the audiovisual equipment loans service formerly managed by the Education Library & Curriculum Resources Centre. While we still have a lot to do in preparation we are optimistic that everything will be up and running by the beginning of the second week of classes. The new home for the Audiovisual Equipment Loan Service will be the Education Computer Lab in room 328 of the Education Building.
