Professor Dennis Jensen named Canada Research Chair in Clinical Exercise and Respiratory Physiology


Dennis Jensen, of our Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education, has been named Canada Research Chair, Tier 2, in Clinical Exercise and Respiratory Physiology.

Dennis Jensen is Assistant Professor with the Faculty of Education's Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education, Director and Principal Investigator with the Clinical Exercise & Respiratory Physiology Laboratory (CERPL), and Interim Director of the McGill Research Centre for Physical Activity and Health (PATH). Dr. Jensen is also Scientist with the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Center's Translational Research in Respiratory Diseases Program, Advisor of the Physiology Platform of the McConnell Centre for Innovative Medicine, and Associate Member of the Meakins-Christie Laboratories and the Department of Medicine's Respiratory Epidemiology and Clinical Research Unit.

Dr. Jensen’s research centers on exercise and health science, with a particular focus on the mechanisms, measurement and management of breathlessness and physical activity-limitation in health, variants of health (e.g., obesity, elderly) and patients with chronic pulmonary disease.  Dr. Jensen has received numerous awards for his work, including a Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship from the Canadian Thoracic Society/Canadian Lung Association, a Chercheurs-Boursiers Junior 1 Salary Award from the FRQS and a William Dawson Research Scholar Award recognizing the outstanding research contributions and potential of younger scholars at McGill.
