150 years from Normal - 1857-2007
Join us in the celebrations!2007 marks our 150th anniversary of teacher education at McGill University. From a provincial initiative, the McGill Normal School (later housed at Macdonald College) and Jacques Cartier Normal School (later renamed St. Joseph Teachers' College) opened their doors in 1857 to educate teachers in public elementary and secondary education. Since our humble beginning we have grown into a world-renowned faculty for teacher education and educational scholarship and research.
