Welcome! As a new Faculty of Education student, you are required to seek academic advising from your department. For advising dates/contact information as well as course selection and registration information for new students, please refer to the Faculty of Education section on the Newly Admitted Undergraduate Students website. Students should also refer to the detailed information available from their department (links below).
Regulations Concerning Withdrawals
- A course withdrawal means you have chosen to discontinue one or more courses.
- A University withdrawal means you have chosen to discontinue your entire term or year of studies.
- Students who drop their last Fall or Winter course by the end of the add/drop period of that term are considered withdrawn from the University. They must follow the procedures for readmission.
The Faculty of Education welcomes transfer applications from students in other McGill faculties who are currently enrolled in a degree program and will be returning the following fall.
Student Rights and Responsibilities
The Handbook on Student Rights and Responsibilities is the official souce of information about your personal and academic rights and responibilities.
As a McGill student, you are responsible for knowing the rules and regulations concerning academic honesty.
Perhaps more important, it is also your responsibility to help maintain the academic integrity of the University.
Students whose highest level of education is high school are admitted into Year 0 (U0), the Freshman Year.
The Freshman (U0) year is followed by Year 1 (U1) when you will take the Year 1 courses for your Bachelor of Education program, or the Year 1 courses for the Bachelor of Science (Kinesiology).
Students who have completed courses at another accredited university/college or who have written AP, IB, A level, or French Baccalaureate examinations may be eligible for transfer credits which can be counted towards a McGill degree.
Dean’s Honour List
The top 10% of students in the Faculty of Education are named to the Dean’s Honour List at the end of each academic year (April). This is a non-monetary designation that appears on your official McGill transcript.
Students registered in the Faculty of Education have the opportunity to study at another university for one term (fall or winter), or one academic year (fall and winter).
Please note that some courses at other universities have already been assessed by Education advisers for equivalency to McGill courses. Consult these resouces for lists of pre-approved courses:
