Applytoeducation Tutorial Video

This video is to help graduating education students who are in the process of applying to teaching positions. Many school boards in Canada and abroad post their job opportunities on applytoeducation.com and require you to complete a profile on the site. This video will help you out with that process.

Teach, Learn, Live... in Japan!

The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme is a Japanese government-sponsored exchange programme promoting international understanding.

Each year, the JET Programme offers thousands of young graduates and professionals the opportunity to work full-time as either Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) in public schools, or Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs) in local government offices. From thriving urban centres to isolated islands, JETs are working at the heart of local communities throughout Japan. If you have always been curious about Japan, are passionate about education and culture, and are ready for work experience abroad, then the JET Programme is for you!

We will be at McGill University on Wednesday, October 22. The Montreal JET Desk coordinator will have a kiosk set up in the Education Lobby to meet students and share information about the JET Programme, from 9:00 to 11:00. Furthermore, an information session will be held in the early afternoon in room 5001 of the Brown Building.

Mr. Mathieu Ménard, JET (Japan Exchange & Teaching) Programme Coordinator, will be in the lobby of the Education Building (3700 McTavish) from 9-11 before the presentation being given on the 22nd of October in the Brown Building. Students who cannot make the presentation, can come talk one-on-one with Mr. Ménard in the Education Building lobby from 9am-11am. Please RSVP on myfuture.

Who we are, what we do for teachers, and what you need to know before you start your career

Teacher unions have been very active for many years advocating for their members through collective bargaining, making representation on behalf of teachers and protecting their rights. All teachers who work in the public sector are part of a union. Come to this session to find out more about what your future union does for you and how you fit into it. Obtaining contracts, getting help in your schools through mentorship programs and key rights and benefits are some of the topics that will be presented. This is your opportunity to meet the only people in the education system who work exclusively for you as teachers. RSVP to Jill Aucoin at career [dot] education [at] mcgill [dot] ca

This session is presented by the Quebec Provincial Association of Teachers, the federation that represents all the teachers in the English school boards of Quebec.
