Prospective students applying for September 2012 or January 2013 admission to any of the graduate programs offered by the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education are required to collect all supporting documents and submit a single, complete application package according to application deadlines.  This refers to all elements that comprise the application package such as transcripts (including those from host universities for transfer credits), letters of reference and TOEFL or IELTS exam results (if applicable).   Transcripts and letters of reference must be submitted in sealed and signed (across the seal) envelopes, and included in a larger envelope along with the rest of the required documents.

Application packages may be submitted by mail, courier or in person.  If sending by overseas or regular mail, applicants must consider delivery factors to ensure the timely submission of their application.

PhD Program

The Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education does not offer a formal PhD program. However it is possible for well qualified students to be admitted to an Ad Hoc doctoral program within any department at McGill.

Exceptional students interested in pursuing an Ad Hoc PhD program may work in concert with a McGill faculty member to complete the admission application. The student is expected to present a detailed dissertation proposal and identify course work to be followed.

In addition, the student must justify that McGill is the appropriate place of study and that it has sufficient physical, financial and human resources to support the student's program.

Thus, in order to complete the application requirements, a student must first obtain the support of a faculty member and thesis committee who will facilitate the process. Contact should be made directly with the faculty member.
