We are pleased to announce that our third annual McGill Research Centre for Physical Activity and Health symposium will take place November 4, 2016 at the McGill Faculty Club and Conference Centre.

Maximilien Van Haaster (B.Ed. Kinesiology 2016) competes in Rio Olympics with Canadian Fencing team

Maximilien Van Haaster (B.Ed. Kinesiology ’16), of our Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education, is one of three McGill athletes representing Canada at the Summer Olympic Games in Rio, August 5th to 21st. 

From Montreal, Quebec, Van Haaster won an individual bronze medal at the 2013 Pan American fencing Championships, and finished fifth in both individual and team foil events at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto.

KPE's Professor Paquette to receive New Investigator Award from Parkinson Canada's Research Program

Dr. Caroline Paquette, of our Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education (KPE), has been approved for a New Investigator Award on behalf of the Scientific Advisory Board of Parkinson Canada.

The award will aid Dr. Caroline Paquette in continuing the research project "Neuronal correlates of turning impairments in Parkinson's disease”.

NHL's Senators add McGill Education grad Martin Raymond (BEd '90, MA '96) to coaching staff

The Ottawa Senators announced on Friday the appointment of McGill Education alumnus Martin Raymond (BEd 1990, MA (Physical Education) 1996) as an assistant coach to bench boss Guy Boucher. It marks the second National Hockey League stint for the tandem, which also worked together with the Tampa Bay Lightning from 2010 to 2013.

Enrico Quilico (MA, 2015) inspiration to brain injury survivors

Enrico Quilico (MA, 2015), alumnus of our Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education, is helping to raise funds for Brain Injury Canada by participating this weekend's Ironman Triathlon in Lake Placid, VT.

Over ten years ago, Quilico was involved in a motorcycling accident. He was lucky to survive. Now, after rehabilitation for his severe brain injury, he is a graduate of education programs at both McGill and Concordia, and will be teaching adult literacy this autumn.
