Dr. Caroline Temcheff, of our Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology (ECP), has launched a website for the Healthy Development Laboratory: www.mcgill.ca/healthydev. The research laboratory is a collaborative effort between ECP and Université de Sherbrooke's Département de psychoéducation.
The Healthy Development Laboratory's goal is to identify how factors such as mental health, stigma and neighborhood shape and are shaped by health and education service utilization. Research at the lab takes a life-span approach to understand how individual vulnerabilities, such as conduct problems or sexual minority identity, shape health and school-based mental health service usage, and how, in turn, service usage shapes outcomes among vulnerable populations.
Associate Professor in Counselling Psychology, Professor Caroline Temcheff joined the Faculty of Education in August, 2017. Her research aims to identify pathways and mechanisms which link childhood conduct problems in girls and boys to developmental trajectories of medical service utilization and mental health problems, particularly depression and addiction, from childhood through to early adulthood.
