CIREQ-McGill Doctoral Scholarship in Economics

Jointly with the Department of Economics, the Centre interuniversitaire de recherche en économie quantitative (CIREQ) offers the CIREQ-McGill doctoral scholarship for incoming Ph.D. students with research interests congruous with those of the Centre. The research interests of CIREQ are econometric theory, decision theory, macroeconomics and financial markets, labour markets, and environmental issues. Eligibility

Candidates must be applying for admission to the doctoral program at McGill's Department of Economics for the Fall of 2012. The competition is open to both Canadian and foreign students.

Amount

The scholarship is in the amount of $8,000 Canadian for one year, renewable up to two times, with total funding packages valued up to $24,000. Renewal is conditional on satisfactory performance as determined by the administrators of the scholarship at the Department of Economics.

The scholarship can be partially combined with additional scholarships external to McGill (subject to conditions of the funding agency) in a manner that is most advantageous to the recipient.

Application Process

1. Candidates must submit, by January 15, 2012, a regular application for admission to the Doctoral Program at the Department of Economics.

2. Candidates must submit separately, also by March 1, 2012, an application for the CIREQ-McGill scholarship, consisting of the following:

  1. a curriculum vitæ
  2. a statement of purpose (maximum five pages, double-spaced) describing the candidate's research interests and showing their congruence with those of CIREQ.

Tomlinson Fellowships

Students entering the Ph.D. program in Economics may be nominated for this fellowship. To be considered for this fellowship, the applicant’s complete file must be received by the Economics Department by 2 January, 2009. For further information see Tomlinson Fellowships
