Prof. Jeremy Cooperstock named inaugural Gerald W. Farnell Teaching Scholar

Congratulations to Prof. Jeremy Cooperstock who has been selected to be the first Gerald W. Farnell Teaching Scholar in the Faculty of Engineering for the 2015-2016 academic year. During his appointment as a Farnell Teaching Scholar, Prof. Cooperstock will work towards furthering the educational mission of the Faculty by inovating in many aspects of teaching and learning in engineering.

Prof. François Bouffard received a Technical Committee Distinguished Individual Service Award from the IEEE Power & Energy Society

Prof. François Bouffard was awarded at the 2015 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting in Denver, CO a Technical Committee Distinguished Individual Service Award. He was given this award in recognition of his excellence in technical leadership and management in the area of power system economics and market operation.

Prof. Bouffard is an active member of the power system economics research community. He also serves as the chair of the System Economics subcommitte of the IEEE Power & Energy Society.

Dr. Zahra Karim-Aghaloo won the 2015 CIPPRS Doctoral Dissertation Award

Congratulations to recent ECE PhD graduate Dr. Zahra Karim-Aghaloo for winning the 2015 Doctoral Dissertation Award sponsored by the Canadian Image Processing and Pattern Recognition Society (CIPPRS). She received this award at the 12th Canadian Conference on Computer and Robot Vision held in June 2015 in Halifax, NS.

Prof. Zetian Mi received the International Symposium for Compound Semiconductors Young Scientist Award

Congratutations are in order for Prof. Zetian Mi, who received the International Symposium for Compound Semiconductors (ISCS) Young Scientist Award. Prof. Mi was given this award for his contributions to the development of quantum dot and nanowire based near-infrared, deep visible, and ultraviolet light sources.

Established in 1986, the Young Scientist award acknowledges technical achievements in the field of compound semiconductors by a scientist younger than 40 years on the first day of the ISCS.
