B.Ed.Teaching English as a Second Language - TESL Elementary and Secondary; Teaching Greek Language and Culture Option

This program prepares students to become specialist teachers of English as a Second Language (ESL) and Greek Language and Culture. TESL preparation is for both the elementary level (including regular and intensive ESL) and the secondary level (including regular ESL and EESL – Enriched English as a Second Language). Teaching Greek Language and Culture preparation is also for the elementary and secondary levels at Hellenic schools. This integrated 120-credit program (150 credits for out-of-province students) consists of academic and professional components.

B.Ed. Secondary Science and Technology

The aim of the BEd Secondary Education Program is to prepare strong beginning teachers for the secondary school level. This integrated program consists of academic studies, professional studies, and school-based practicum components. All of this is supported by studies in pedagogy, curriculum and educational foundations.

B.Ed. Secondary Mathematics

The aim of the BEd Secondary Education Program is to prepare strong beginning teachers for the secondary school level. This integrated program consists of academic studies, professional studies, and school-based practicum components. All of this is supported by studies in pedagogy, curriculum and educational foundations.

B.Ed. Secondary Social Sciences

The aim of the BEd Secondary Education Program is to prepare strong beginning teachers for the secondary school level. This integrated program consists of academic studies, professional studies, and school-based practicum components. All of this is supported by studies in pedagogy, curriculum and educational foundations.

B.Ed. Kindergarten/Elementary Jewish Studies

The Jewish Studies Option is offered within the Bachelor of Education in Kindergarten and Elementary Education and is addressed to students who wish to teach Jewish studies as well as general studies. Students are encouraged to acquire a strong background in Bible, Jewish prayer, Jewish holidays, and Jewish history prior to registering in the option. Students lacking the ability to teach in Hebrew should consider spending a semester at an Israeli university or seek other avenues to improve their language skills.

B.Ed. Kindergarten/Elementary Pédagogie de l'Immersion Française (PIF)

The Pédagogie de l’Immersion Française (PIF) major is designed to meet the needs of students enrolled in the B.Ed Kindergarten and Elementary program who wish to teach in French immersion contexts. It consists of 30 credits of French and second language education related courses embedded within the regular B.Ed. Kindergarten and Elementary program (no additional credits are needed). In addition, certain other course sections may be offered in French.

Concurrent B.Sc. / B.Ed.

Note: the Concurrent Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education program is no longer open to admission.

 

 

 

 

B.Ed. Music

This program prepares students to become specialist teachers in music at both the elementary and secondary school levels. The program consists of 53-54 professional education credits, including four school-based field experiences, 61 Music credits and 6 elective credits. This program is only open to students who have completed a Bachelor of Music or have completed the first two years of the Concurrent BMus-BEd program and their final playing exam (MUIN 322 Concentration Exam or equivalent).

Concurrent B. Mus. / B.Ed.

This program offers students the opportunity to obtain a Bachelor of Music (Major in Music Education) and a Bachelor of Education after the completion of 143 credits. The concurrent program combines academic studies in music with professional studies. There is a school-based field experience in each year of the program.
