Pioneering EDUBuddy program offers mentoring, guidance


For Education students looking to make an impact as leaders or for first-year students seeking advice and guidance, mentoring services are available within the Faculty of Education. Since 2012 the Education Undergraduate Society of McGill (EdUS) has been pairing up new students with experienced ones through their EDUBuddy mentoring program.

Mariusz on Jeopardy!

Mariusz Galczynski, lecturer and PhD student in the Faculty of Education's Department of Integrated Studies in Education, is slated to appear on the popular American television game show Jeopardy! on Tuesday, November 25th.

Originally created by Merv Griffin and hosted by the iconic Alex Trebek since 1984, Jeopardy! tests, in increasing levels of difficulty, the general knowledge of participants by providing clues phrased as answers.

Dr. Nancy Heath interviewed by CTV National News

Dr. Nancy Heath of our Department of Educational & Counselling Psychology was recently interviewed by CTV National News about self-harm cases in Canada. Dr. Heath was asked to comment on a recent report by the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) that found a rise in incidents of intentional self-harm related hospitalizations over the past five years.

EduQuarium space offers public computers, tranquility

Recently reopened to all students in the Faculty of Education, an enclosed area on the Education building’s 1st floor offers state-of-the-art computers for private use without reservation, ideal for those who wish to work efficiently in quiet solitude.

As a result of its transparent glassed walls, the room has already earned the friendly sobriquet “EduQuarium”. Outside of those rare hours posted by the entrance, in which it is earmarked for examinations or class use, the new computer lab is open at all times for public use.
