Makers and Coders McGill (MC²) Collective is an informal group for researchers (graduate students, fellows, and faculty) engaged in exploring and presenting code and fabrication-related projects. Somewhere between a hacking camp and work-in-progress workshop, we'll consider existing Digital Humanities projects and initiatives and keep up to speed on new models, technologies and techniques. From time to time we might go in depth and learn a new coding language or platform, or equally try tearing one apart for fun. We're interested in prototypes and how they teach, and how experimentation through fabrication is a critical aspect of Digital Humanities research and development.
This year (2011-2012) we're meeting typically in Ferrier 470, though from time to time we meet nearby (around the corner) in Ferrier 452. Although all are welcome, we'll assume that you either have some basic experience with coding or that your enthusiasm for what we're doing will get you up to speed quickly.
