Robert Henry Zittrer
Robert Zittrer brings over 35 years of experience to the firm as a trusted financial advisor, dealing primarily with mid‐market entrepreneurial businesses, many of them family‐run. Robert handles a large and diversified practice, with a focus in the real estate, retail, manufacturing and distribution, and high net worth/investment sectors.
As the relationship partner for many of the firm’s entrepreneurial clients, Robert coordinates and leads a multi‐disciplinary team of professionals, specifically tailored to each client’s unique requirements. He is a highly trusted advisor for the many family‐owned businesses he includes among his clientele.
Robert is particularly appreciated by business owners for the depth of his understanding of both accounting and broader business matters. He assists them in managing their daily affairs and in resolving various complex financial and operational issues. Robert has helped many organizations plan and achieve their growth objectives, offering his expertise in mergers and acquisitions and strategic planning. Many entrepreneurs also benefit from Robert’s additional experience and interest in succession planning and wealth management matters.
In addition to his direct client‐handling responsibilities, Robert has played an important leadership role in the firm’s strategic direction and evolution over the years. He held the position of divisional managing partner for audit and tax and was subsequently co‐managing partner of the firm for 2 years. He is currently the chairman of the firm’s board of directors and sits on the compensation committee. Robert has also demonstrated a long‐standing commitment to the Community.
Throughout his career, he has been involved on boards and committees for numerous organizations in the social services, educational and healthcare sectors.
Mr. Zittrer joined the McGill University’s Desautels Faculty of Management Advisory Board in April 2007. He holds a B.Com, McGill University, 1972 (Great Distinction), an MBA, University of Western Ontario, 1974 (Dean’s List), CICA Uniform Final Examination, 1975 (Quebec Silver Medalist) and a Chartered Accountant (CA) designation, 1976. He is a member of the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec, and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario.
