Information Technology is fundamental to corporate strategy, organization structure, building and maintaining relationships with customers and suppliers, as well as developing and offering products and services.
This 15-credit IS concentration prepares students for a multitude of IT and IT-related career opportunities. The concentration in Information Systems is an ideal complement to the majors and concentrations of several other areas (Marketing, Finance, Accounting, etc). It employs a blend of theoretical concepts, technical knowledge, hands-on tools, case studies, and real-life projects to train students to identify business challenges that can benefit from information systems support and to implement appropriate solutions.
Graduates completing a concentration in Information Systems can expect to find employment as business or systems analysts in the IT field or as IT specialists within their own field. These fields include, but are not limited to, banking, insurance, manufacturing, retailing, and consulting.
The Information Systems Concentration is comprised of 3 required and 2 complementary courses. This program structure allows students the flexibility to focus their studies on an area of Information Systems that is of particular interest to them or complements their choice of a Major or Concentration from another area.
In order to derive the most benefit from each course, as well as to even out their course load, students are recommended to follow the schedule outlined below:
