PhD Specialization in Organizational Behaviour

The McGill PhD Program in Management provides students with a unique post-graduate educational experience that facilitates exposure to a variety of research approaches and interests, and to the combined resources of four top Montreal universities.

This collaborative program, offered in conjunction with Concordia University, École des Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC) of the Université de Montréal, and Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), provides McGill students with access to over 250 professors and to a full array of courses taught in both English and French.

Our two most recent graduates, Jean-Baptiste Litrico and Pamela Lirio, are in tenure-track positions at Queens University in Canada and EDHEC Business School in France.

Coursework in the PhD program familiarizes the students with the academic literature and processes by which great social science research is conducted.  The faculty is catholic with regard to method and their expertise ranges from qualitative (e.g., fieldwork, case studies, ethnography) to quantitative (e.g., surveys, archival databases, social network analysis) research.  A bi-monthly seminar brings together PhD students and faculty from associated disciplines to discuss current research.

In evaluating applicants, the OB faculty looks for evidence of: (a) a strong research orientation; as well as (b) skills and experience relevant to gaining a deeper understanding of work and organizations in a global economy.
