MBA Activities

McGill's MBA students maintain an active and enriching series of extracurricular activities. Beyond the classroom experience, as a McGill MBA candidate, you will have an incomparable opportunity to meet new people, develop your talents, and learn new skills. You can gain important hands-on experience through our student-run professional consulting groups, or by helping coordinate a major annual business conference organized by McGill MBA students, such as the Desautels Business Conference.

CEO Speakers Series

CEO Series

The CEO Speaker Series brings together the leaders of today and the trailblazers of tomorrow in a unique setting. The events invite current CEOs to have an intimate conversation with a current MBA that breaks down all barriers and offers students privileged insight into life at the top of the corporate food chain.

Desautels Business Conference

DBC

Founded in 1993 by a group of enterprising MBA students, the Desautels Business Conference (DBC) has evolved into a world-class event. Each year, the DBC provides a unique forum for discussing current business and organizational issues.

It strives to be the largest student-organized event emanating from the Faculty of Management, bringing together leaders of industry and community, university faculty, and students from around the world.

Entrepreneurship Club

The Entrepreneurship club's mission is to encourage, inspire and support student entrepreneurship and innovation within the MBA community. Our events and programs expose students to the various facets of new ventures and support the expansion of McGill's entrepreneurial network. Join us for our topic specific sessions, guest lectures, and idea generation "brain jams" - expect to hear more in early September!

Marketing Club

It is many disciplines under the same umbrella: brand management, advertising and communications, marketing research, online marketing, customer relationship and customer experience management. It is an essential component of every industry, whether local or global, business-to-consumer or business- to-business: retail, high-tech, entertainment, manufacturing... And to be truly effective, marketing must be aligned and intertwined with all other areas of business, including strategy, finance, and operations.

The Investment Club

The McGill MBA Investment Club (MMIC) aspires to educate its members in the various aspects of the finance field whilst supporting their career preparation and increasing their marketability to employers. We aim to accomplish this by establishing an interactive and social environment, in which members are provided the opportunity to develop new skills and enhance their network of industry contacts.

Net Impact

Net Impact is a network of more than 11,000 new-generation leaders committed to using the power of business to improve the world. It is also one of the most innovative and influential networks of MBAs, graduate students and young professionals in existence today.

Net Impact offers an opportunity for members to broaden their business education and exposure to socially responsible organizations, refine their leadership skills through participation in socially responsible activities that give back to the community, and, of course, build their network.

Yearbook Club

The Yearbook Club is all about attending events and capturing this year's memories. There is no membership fee, and you can choose how involved you want to be. We are looking to fill four position: Managing Editor, Content Editor, Sales & Marketing and Head Photographer.

McGill OUTlook on Business

OUTlook on Business is an organization open to all students with an interest in business-related Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) issues. Its purpose is to foster a supportive environment and to promote professional development opportunities for LGBTQ students and their allies. Through events, speakers, and participation in external activities, such as LGBTQ oriented job fairs, case competitions and conventions, OUTlook encourages students to broaden their professional networks.

McGill MBA Women's Association

The MMWA's mission is to maximize the professional development of female students and alumni of the McGill MBA program through strategic engagement with the McGill community and broader Montreal networks.

Hockey Club

The Cash Kings return to the ice this year, eager to avenge their second round departure from the playoffs last year. We are looking for new players to expand our roster of classmates, alumni, and Zamboni driver rejects. Games are mostly throughout the week between 8-11pm at the McConnell arena on campus.

Rugby Club

Rugby

The rugby club is the ideal opportunity for MBA students, no matter the previous rugby experience, to get involved in a club that builds on a strong team spirit, that organizes diverse events through-out the year, that provides great networking opportunities with McGill alumni and MBA students from the top tier schools, that gets dirty when required, that parties hard... and that promises you an amazing trip south when all your classmates are sitting in for exams. No matter in how many other clubs and sports you are involved at the same time, you can’t pass on this one.

Soccer Club

The MBA soccer team is composed of both first- and second-year MBA students. The team plays in the McGill intramural league and competes in the MBA World Cup at Tuck Business School in New Hampshire. McGill is traditionally the only Canadian school to participate in this event, which was held on the first weekend after exams in April.

Softball Club

The Bronfman Bombers is the official McGill Desautels MBA Softball team, which is part of the PGSS Softball league. It’s a fun, relaxed league where students and alumni can get together and have some fun on the softball diamond, enjoy a beer and a hot dog, and network with fellow students. It’s open to all students and is completely free, and runs throughout the summer months.

MBA Student Association

The MBA Student Association is your student representative body. We work to ensure that students get the most of their MBA experience and help the MBAs achieve more as a group than we would each individually.
