The Graduate Diploma in Public Accountancy program is a 16 month program consisting of eight courses, for a total of 30 credits. There are four three-credit courses, three four-credit courses, and a six-credit Internship. Courses will be offered lock-step over four terms (16 months): summer, fall, winter, summer. The program requires students to attend full-time in the two summer terms. In the fall and winter terms students normally attend school part-time while working as part of the articling period required to meet the requirements of the CA designation. In the final summer term of the program, we also offer the UFE Prep Seminar, an intensive preparation course for the UFE.
Students who fail one course will be required to either write a supplemental or repeat the course and will be placed on Probationary Standing. Students who fail two courses or one course and its supplemental will be required to withdraw from the Program.
The CA Program, coupled with a 24-month articling period (apprenticeship with a recognized "MaƮtre Stagiaire" CA firm), provides students with the academic and professional business training, communication and interpersonal skills needed to succeed in a CA career.
The Graduate Diploma in Public Accountancy is required in order to write the Uniform Final Examination (the National Chartered Accountancy Certification Exam). The 24-month articling period with a Chartered Accountancy firm can be done concurrently with the Graduate Diploma in Public Accountancy or any time after commencing the program.
