Management students visit the world economies of tomorrow
The Desautels Faculty of Management’s Hot Cities Tour is for management students to gain first-hand knowledge of a different economy on an international scale, learn about business successes and failures in that economy, become aware of the working conditions of low-wage workers, learn about women in leadership roles, and grasp another culture in order to better adapt to the ever-increasing international business needs.
On past tours, students have travelled to Israel, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. Students get the opportunity to meet with CEOs, entrepreneurs, local students, and McGill alumni. During the 2011 trip to India, the students wanted to highlight some of the country’s social problems, such as the fact that few impoverished girls have access to a school education. The students used the power of social media marketing to raise a total of $18,000. Only greater results are expected from the 2012 Hot Cities Tour to South Africa from February 16-26, 2012.
