MMM Alumni:
"As a Bachelor in Engineering I always felt that Indian education is broadly theoretical. But education system at McGill is hands-on, cutting edge and futuristic. Also MMM’s fast-paced and specialized program, internship, industry experts, and McGill’s Faculty of Management and Faculty of Engineering created an exciting learning environment for me. As an MMM graduate I had the opportunity to combine engineering depth in new product development, manufacturing systems design, with management breadth. I have acquired a holistic understanding of how businesses are operated and managed, having taken numerous courses like accounting, corporate finance, marketing, operations, supply chain and organizational behavior. After having participated in numerous case discussions and met several business executives, I am convinced that MMM program is truly a unique, forward-looking and integrative engineering and management program that has given me the knowledge, tools, and support that is needed to strengthen, lead, and transform industry.
Having a manufacturing background prior to MMM, I wanted my internship experience to be in a supply chain management and was fortunate to get one as I took the advantage of on-campus recruiting opportunities at MMM. Also, only an MMM graduate can benefit through career development offices at both Faculty of Management and Engineering, which organize career fairs where numerous companies visit the McGill campus. I also benefited from access to the MMM’s industry partnership network as well as strong Alumni relations. McGill’s IT infrastructure and state of the art libraries gave me access to vast base of information and knowledge resources.
As a graduate student at both Faculty of Management and Faculty of Engineering, I participated in truly cross-disciplinary teams which included students from Bachelors to PhD. At McGill, I found friends who belong to various countries in the world, with whom I experienced the Montreal area’s history, culture, cuisine and night-life. Now after finishing the courses with MMM when I look back, it’s a pleasant surprise that time went by too quickly to be noticed. Within 12 months you are done with all your courses and ready to enter into the business arena."

"MMM program is a very distinct and a one-of-a-kind program offered by any Canadian University. It efficiently combines a mix of Engineering curriculum and graduate-level management courses to give its students the right skill-sets to perform in today's continuously changing manufacturing environment. The specialized seminar based training programs in Six Sigma and Leadership further add to the usefulness of hiring MMM students as, from the company's perspective, they can hit the ground running and quickly integrate within the company's management system. The mandatory paid internship aspect of the program further increases the employability of the students and also gives a chance to students to experience the Canadian work-culture"
-Devender M. G., MMM 2008
"The MMM program built up my expertise in supply chain management, enabling me to successfully switch from sales and marketing to procurement and sourcing. The knowledge acquired in the program gave me a competitive edge to get well involved in the ongoing global trend of the offshore outsourcing and manufacturing. Moreover, by carrying the good name of McGill, it eventually fulfilled my dream of studying in a prestigious world class university."
-Fuyun (Andy) Cao, MMM 2006
"Getting a good job in a new country is always a challenge. I had apprehensions about my career when I moved to Canada from India and joined the MMM program. But the value addition in my knowledge, which I got from this program, was immense and helped me get a position as plant manager for GE-Hitachi Canada. The manufacturing industry now needs more “system thinkers” who can drive waste out from the whole value stream. The MMM program helped me equip with the tools needed to succeed in today’s global manufacturing environment."
-Gurmeet Singh Guliani, MMM 2005
"In today’s manufacturing environment, companies require high profile individuals who not only understand business management principles, but also who understand and have been exposed to manufacturing and supply chain management theory. The MMM program at McGill University is one of the few programs in North America which will equip you with that essential knowledge and help you develop the necessary skills to be successful in your career. The participation of corporate sponsors who provide internship opportunities, plant visits and case studies has made this program very valuable and unique."
-Jorge Arroyo Boy, MMM 2003
"I joined the MMM program with an engineering background and operations experience. MMM helped me with additional understanding of the big picture in manufacturing and in operations in the business arena, as well as how to be an effective leader. Most importantly, MMM is a truly exceptional program which combines engineering, management and industry all together. Since graduating from MMM, I have used the skills and tools I obtained to practice in industry and update my knowledge continuously through the valuable alumni network."
-Vivian Wei Xiao, MMM'02
"In today's manufacturing environment, the inability of Engineers and Managers to communicate on the same wavelength poses immense problems. The MMM Program helped bridge that goal ambiguity for me and it taught me to visualize the intangibles which hard-core engineers tend to overlook. The program taught all of us to devise localized key performance indicators in response to a global goal, in other words, to quantify and localize global goals to be well communicated and understood on the production floors. It gave us a vision of the dynamics of manufacturing systems and opened up the possibilities of becoming the manufacturing/operations strategists and visionaries of the future."
-Sohaib Akbar, MMM 2000
"A few years ago I had to make one of the toughest decisions in my life, leaving my job and a good salary to go back to school. Today I know it was the best move I ever made. The MMM program gave me the necessary tools to start a new and challenging career in the manufacturing industry. The demand for such skills is very high since companies are working on improving their stock value by changing the way they do things and by eliminating the non-value-added steps. The MMM program provides you with the know-how and the contacts in different industries which will improve your job opportunities. It is worth the investment."
-Michael Sudah, MMM 1999
"The MMM Program provides A Win-Win solution for both Industry and Students. It satisfies Industry needs of having specialized professionals to help in improving their competitiveness in the ever-changing global market, and it offers students great opportunities for really valuable industrial experience throughout the whole program."
-Yanyan (Brenda) Hu, MMM 2001
"As one of the first part-time participants, the MMM program has allowed me to understand manufacturing in a more complete orientation, a solid grasp of business and plant management issues. The participation of corporate sponsors has made this program quite innovative. It has opened my eyes to a variety of possible challenges and has created many new professional career opportunities. MMM is a specialized business degree for those who look to progress in the manufacturing industry."
-Jean Coupal, MMM 2001
"Being the first non-engineering-background student enrolled in the program, I truly believe that the MMM program gave me the extra competitive edge over business or MBA students in manufacturing-related careers. The internship in Mexico gave me a more global view and an ability to work in a cross-functional and cross-cultural environment."
-David Kuo, MMM 2000
"The practical focus of the MMM program is the most useful. Case studies and seminars help you get close to real-life manufacturing management. The internship is the most exciting part of the program; you are given a problem and you have to provide a feasible solution. Every day is a challenge. You have to see the big picture and foresee the possible pitfalls. It is here that all the courses and theory come together with real life."
-Jesus Zepeda, MMM 2001
"Since joining JDS Uniphase in 1999, I have been working on yield improvement, increased productivity and production ramping. The production lines that I currently support have increased shipping volume from 1200 to 5600 units per week. The program allowed me to have a more global view of operations. It provided insights into which projects should be followed for maximum benefit for the manufacturing process. It also provided the rounding out in business aspects of manufacturing beyond industrial engineering."
-Stephen Pare, MMM 1999
"I am presently working in a consulting company in Spain. The MMM program has provided me with an understanding of all the factors (money, people, technology, management, ecology, quality, strategy, etc.) required to make appropriate recommendations to client companies. I am more open-minded and I approach the problems with greater facility than ever before."
-Mikel Iria, MMM 1999
"The best thing about the program is its interaction with Industry. It provided the theoretical concepts in parallel to the practical ones. Our learning was doubled. As a result, we were quite a bit ahead of other people in the same field."
-Moosa Baqar, MMM 2001
