MD/MBA student Jordan Isenberg is the co-winner of the Dave Williams Leadership Award 2012, granted by the McGill Faculty of Medicine. This award serves to recognize Jordan’s public policy works on the Quebec provincial, Canadian national and UN international scenes, where he exemplifies principles of leadership: setting direction, motivating & aligning people, building value and modeling the way.

The full-time MBA ranking published last month by BusinessWeek brings the 2012 season of media rankings of business schools to a close, and the results will be met with the usual mix of joy, despair and skepticism by the business school community. Staff, students and alumni will be assessing the impact of their school’s standing in the global market, while potential applicants may over-rely on these league tables to determine their shortlist of target schools.

FEI Competition

Desautels MBA students, Alaa Abulhuda, Soeren Klatt, Lauren Merkel and Thomas Weber, took 2nd place at the 7th annual Financial Executives International (FEI) Best in Class Invitational Case Competition held in Toronto from November 15-17, 2012. After placing 4th in 2009 and 3rd in 2010, this is our Faculty’s highest placement thus far at this prestigious competition, which includes the top business schools from across Canada.

The great historian Marcel Trudel liked to talk about the myths and realities of Quebec's history. On my side, I'll talk about the myths and realities of the international role of Quebec's universities - a key role for the success of Quebec.

… Half of McGill's alumni live in Quebec, including many one-time international students who fell in love with Quebec and never left. A good example is Aldo Bensadoun (BCom’64, LLD’12), the founder of the Aldo Group, who perhaps you saw recently on Tout le monde en parle.

Shopper marketing used to be about guiding the consumer along the last few steps on the path to purchase - But today that path is more loop than funnel.

Understanding consumers is not the same thing as understanding shoppers.

Shoppers today are emotionally overloaded with the multitude of purchase options available. Doesn’t it make sense to gain insights into why a shopper decides to buy your brand versus someone else’s? There’s only one place that happens and that’s in the store — be it via bricks or clicks.

MBA student Alexis Pradie receives 1938 Champions Award

MBA student Alexis Pradie has been chosen as the recipient of a 1938 Champions Award by the Committee on Enrolment and Student Affairs and the Martlet Foundation. The 1938 Champions Awards were established in 1991 by the surviving members of the 1938 McGill Intercollegiate Champions in football and hockey in memory of their teammates who lost their lives in the service of their country during World War II. Winners of the awards must have not only good academic records but must also have demonstrated leadership through service, dedication and teamwork.
