Kelly Hawke Baxter
Kelly Hawke Baxter is the Executive Director of The Natural Step Canada, a non-profit organization with over a decade of experience helping businesses and communities understand and make meaningful progress toward sustainability. Her vision and passion for sustainability have guided the organization through tremendous change, growing our staff from 2 to 19 people, and our budget by 1000%.
The Natural Step has become a leading source of expertise and advice in the field of transformational change towards sustainability. Kelly leads a team in Canada that has trained 25,000 sustainability practitioners and worked with 250 organizations, supporting hundreds of senior executives and community leaders to become sustainability role models and ambassadors at large.
Kelly was a founding Board Member of The Natural Step Canada and former Chair of the Board. She brings two decades of experience in sustainable development to her role at The Natural Step. A journalist and editor by training, Kelly’s excellent communications skills make her an engaging speaker, facilitator, and leader. Kelly has a long history of supporting non-profit organizations in the sustainable development field including Friends of the Earth, the Developing Countries Farm Radio Network, Street Kids International, and others.
Kelly holds masters degrees in Development Studies and International Journalism. She is Vice-Chair of The Natural Step International, a member of the International Centre for Sustainable Cities, the Advisory Board of the Smart Growth Canada Network, and the Distinguished Advisory Council of the Norman Patterson School of International Affairs. She lives in Montreal with her husband and two sons.
