James Lisson

Retired Counsel, Fasken Martineau DuMoulin
Biography: 

James Lisson has extensive experience as an advisor to and working with business and government in Canada and internationally.  He was counsel at and a partner with the law firm Fasken Martineau in England and Canada for 8 years and previously a partner at the law firm Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt in Canada for 26 years.  Jim has also worked in strategic and financial capacities in businesses and governments in Canada and in England.  He was executive chairman of Cadillac Fairview Corporation (a North American real estate company) and  participated while on executive interchange with the Department of Finance (Canada) in reform and restructurings in the financial services sector. Throughout his career Mr. Lisson has worked with Canadian and global corporations,  financial institutions, investment banks, and government entities on a wide range of matters, including complex public and private mergers, acquisitions and alliances, private equity investments, equity and debt financing initiatives, restructurings, regulatory, and governance issues.
