When you go from the minors to the big leagues the game really speeds up. Athletes often mention this with a sense of awe in their voice. Partly it is that they are playing with and against the “greats” of the game; they can’t believe they are on the ice with Martin St. Louis and PK. Partly it is that the game is simply and noticeably faster. I play beer league hockey and when I go to a Canadiens game I am always amazed at how much faster they are on the ice. A younger me played pond hockey at IBM with a colleague who was a former NHL, the rest of us appeared to be standing still in comparison. And it is like that in business.
