Professor Paola Perez-Aleman's article "Collective Learning in Global Diffusion: Spreading Quality Standards in a Developing Country Cluster" was chosen as a finalist for the 2011 Best Paper Award of the Industry Studies Association and INFORMS. Five articles were selected from over 800 articles published in eleven INFORMS journals during 2011. This award recognizes the best industry studies paper published in an INFORMS journal the preceding year. Referring to the articles of the five finalists for the Best Paper Award, the Committee stated that they "were impressed by the importance of the problem, the strong conceptualization, the great care taken in collecting original data, the extensive fieldwork done to understand the data and the underlying processes generating the data, the creative analyses and use of contextual information to rule out competing explanations, and the skillful interpretation of findings to draw implications for practice as well as theory/future academic research."
