Professor Henry Mintzberg declared top McGill 2004 newsmaker

Out of ten McGill faculty members, three Management professors were included in the Reporter's list of McGill's top 2004 newsmakers.

Professor Henry Mintzberg was chosen as the top newsmaker, while professors Robert Hebdon and Karl Moore took second and fourth respectively.

Professor Mintzberg's book Managers Not MBAs was singled out by The Economist as one of the best business books of 2004. There were 131 different media stories featuring his views, including the Times of Britain, US News & World Report, Business Week and the Financial Times.

Professor Hebdon turned up in 74 different media, including the Chicago Sun-Times, the Boston Herald and the Washington Times, on his research interests, which include labour relations, collective bargaining and dispute resolution.

Professor Karl Moore, an expert on business strategy and globalization, appeared in 51 different media, including CBC Radio's The Current, the New York Times and CBC TV's The National. His commentary was mostly on the airline industry and the challenges facing Bombardier.
