Montreal ranked world’s #1 student city

Global higher-education analyst Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has named Montreal the world’s #1 student city, up from number 7 and overtaking Paris for the top spot. Montreal’s rise to the top comes thanks to several factors, including affordability, economic progress, university rankings and student mix.

To even be considered, a city must have at least two universities in the most recent QS World Rankings. Montreal has three, including McGill, which comes in at number 30 and is also home to a third of Montreal’s international students. McGill Principal Suzanne Fortier says that Montreal’s ranking is “a validation of the city’s welcoming spirit and exciting creativity.”
