McGill students honour business leaders

Sheila Fraser one of award recipients at 26th Annual Management Achievement event

Four outstanding Canadian business leaders will be honoured for their success and contributions to the community by the students of the McGill Desautels Faculty of Management at the 26th Annual Management Achievement Awards on February 3.

The four winners, Alain Bellemare, Sheila Fraser, Daniel Lamarre and Ellen Moore, have demonstrated outstanding entrepreneurship, ethics and corporate social responsibility, core values that capture the spirit of McGill management students.

Award Recipients:


Alain Bellemare: CEO of Pratt & Whitney, was named to Canada's Top 40 Under 40 in 2000 and earned the 1995 Quebec Arista Award for Young Executive of Quebec.

Sheila Fraser, FCA: Auditor General of Canada since May 2001. Known best for her early findings on the federal sponsorship program that ultimately led to the Gomery Inquiry.

Daniel Lamarre: President and COO of Cirque du Soleil since 2001.

Ellen Moore: President and CEO of Chubb Insurance Company of Canada since January 2004. Named one of the insurance industry's top 100 women executives in 2002 by Business Insurance Magazine.
