DESAUTELS MBA PROGRAM CONTINUES TO CLIMB IN THE ECONOMIST'S GLOBAL RANKINGS

Published: 15 October 2009

The Desautels School of Management at McGill University has risen to 75th place in The Economist's global survey of full-time MBA programs.

The Economist ranking, now in its eighth year, is designed to look at business schools from the students' perspective.  It takes into consideration four factors based on students' expressed reasons for pursuing an MBA:  ability to open new career opportunities and/or further current career; personal development and educational experience; increase in salaries; and networking potential.  The Desautels MBA has risen from un-ranked in 2007, to 100th in 2008 and 75th in 2009.

With the recent launch of a new curriculum and vast improvement to career and student services, the Desautels program anticipates continued gains in this and other rankings.

Just last week, Beyond Grey Pinstripes, a biennial survey and alternative ranking of business schools, rated the Desautels MBA 31st in the world, up from 45th previously.   The mission of this ranking, published by the Aspen Institute, is to spotlight innovative full-time MBA programs that are integrating issues of social and environmental stewardship into curricula and research. The ranking weighs student opportunity, student exposure, course content and research with respect to ethical, social and environmental issues.
